DOT PHYSICAL EXAM
If you require a physical for your Commercial Driver’s License, or because you haul enough weight to require one, Shalica Health is your one-stop Occupational Health Clinic of choice.
FMCSA Requires DOT Physical Exams
All commercial vehicle drivers in interstate commerce with a max gross vehicle weight rating of more than 10,000 pounds must maintain a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate with a DOT physical exam that occurs every two years (at a minimum).
Who Can Perform DOT Physicals?
A nationally registered and certified medical examiner must perform DOT physicals. Examiners, including the doctor at Shalica Health, can be found in the national registry.
The Many Reasons to See Shalica Health for Your DOT Physical
Other testing sites may see urgent care patients as well, making your wait time unpredictable and often longer than you’d expect.
When DOT physicals are a priority (like they are at Shalica Health), the entire process is faster, more efficient, and more affordable.
You’ll get personalized service with active problem-solving and active communication among the driver, the employer, and the doctor.
WE ALSO OFFER NON-DOT PHYSICAL EXAMS

A basic DOT exam does not include drug and alcohol testing, but we can perform them at the same time as your regular exam if required by your company.
DOT PHYSICAL FAQs
Consortium/Third-Party Administrators (C/TPAs) help employers manage their DOT drug and alcohol testing programs. They might take care of everything or just parts of the program, including keeping the required testing records. They work with employers to make sure the program runs smoothly and follows the DOT/FMCSA rules for drug and alcohol testing.
You are encouraged to gather more information from your consortium or the FMCSA, but in general, the things necessary for being DOT compliant include FMCSA Clearinghouse setup, a random drug/alcohol pool, a substance abuse program process, and DOT registration management.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) created the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. This new database keeps track of violations related to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing program for CDL holders.
